Children’s Dentistry and Sealants
Children’s Dental Care: Twin Buttes Dental recommends bringing your child in for their first dental appointment any time after 2 years of age. The child’s initial appointment is typically a happy visit where we introduce your child to the dental office, staff and the various ways we care for our teeth.
It is important that children learn correctly the why’s and how’s to effectively take care of their teeth at a young age. They will carry these important habits the rest of their life. Ensuring Proper Oral Health as the gateway to the body is imperative and will benefit your child throughout his or her lifetime!

Sealants: Sealants are described as painting a fluid resin over the nooks and crannies of permanent teeth in a Childs dentition. When back permanent teeth replace baby teeth and initially erupt they can by very jagged with deep grooves. It is difficult for children to clean these areas effectively so we will often place a sealant into the area. The sealant material seals the crevices so food and bacteria cannot hide out and cavitate the tooth.
This procedure is commonly performed on children 6-12 years of age after their permanent molar teeth erupt.
