A Veneer is a thin piece of porcelain or layered resin that is placed over the front of a tooth to change the color, shape, alignment, and overall appearance of the tooth. Veneers are often placed on teeth that are uneven, chipped, discolored, oddly shaped, unevenly spaced, or crooked. Veneers can be added to the tooth, in many cases, by slightly “roughening” the tooth and bonding the Veneer to it. Veneers can be comprised of either Porcelain or Composite/Resin and can mask undesirable defects, such as teeth stained by tetracycline, injury, or as a result of a root-canal procedure. Veneers are also ideal for masking discolored fillings in front teeth.
